Latest 2024 Import and Export Data Analysis of China's Crawler Bulldozers

A crawler bulldozer (HS: 84291190) is a type of earthmoving equipment equipped with a tracked undercarriage. Thanks to its excellent traction, low ground pressure, and powerful climbing ability, it can operate in various complex terrains, making it an indispensable machine in construction projects.

China's bulldozer industry started relatively late, progressing from technology imports to independent research and development. After decades of growth, China has emerged as a leader in the bulldozer market, securing the top position globally. It is estimated that by 2029, the global bulldozer market size will reach $4.068 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 2.67%.

According to customs data, from January to December 2024, China's crawler bulldozer exports amounted to approximately $540 million, an increase of $28.87 million compared to the previous year, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.61%. Meanwhile, crawler bulldozer imports were around $5.59 million, a decrease of $2.1 million from the previous year, reflecting a year-on-year decline of 27.3%.

From the perspective of export average price, the average export price of crawler bulldozers from January to December 2024 was $87,502 per unit, reflecting a year-on-year decrease of 3.45%. The decline in export prices was mainly due to intensified international market competition, prompting domestic companies to adopt price reduction strategies to capture a larger market share. Additionally, declining demand in major export markets also contributed to the decrease in China's crawler bulldozer export prices.

Regarding import prices, the average import price of crawler bulldozers from January to December 2024 was $83,442 per unit, marking a year-on-year decrease of 37.07%.

From the perspective of export volume, China exported 6,210 crawler bulldozers from January to December 2024, representing a year-on-year increase of 9.39%. The growing demand from countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly Russia and Indonesia, significantly boosted exports. Additionally, the global market demand rebounded, especially in the infrastructure construction sector, further driving the international demand for crawler bulldozers.

In terms of trade regions, Asia, Africa, and Europe remained the primary export destinations, accounting for 93.27% of China's total crawler bulldozer exports. Among the six continents:

· Exports to Africa reached $163 million, up 31.27% year-on-year.

· Exports to Asia amounted to $181 million, down 1.06% year-on-year.

· Exports to Europe totaled $163 million, down 2.26% year-on-year.

· Exports to Latin America stood at $29.44 million, down 9.84% year-on-year.

· Exports to North America were $1.03 million, down 4.11% year-on-year.

In 2024, exports to Ghana saw a year-on-year increase of 289%. This growth can be attributed to several factors: Ghana's rich mineral resources and its role as a key African economic powerhouse have fueled the rapid development of its mining industry, leading to increased demand for construction machinery, particularly bulldozers and other earthmoving equipment. Additionally, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit has encouraged Chinese enterprises to participate in Ghana’s infrastructure and mining projects, directly driving the export of construction machinery. As bulldozers are essential equipment in mining operations, their export volume and value have increased accordingly.

In terms of major exporting provinces and cities, the top five were Shandong, Jiangsu, Hunan, Guangxi, and Hebei, collectively accounting for 80.13% of total exports. Following closely behind were Shaanxi, Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Zhejiang, with export values of $17.15 million, $15.45 million, $14.02 million, $13.14 million, and $10.74 million, respectively.
